CASCO - Ronald (Ron) Edward Sawyer, 70, passed Monday June 6, 2022 surrounded by family at his home after a long battle with cancer and kidney disease. He was born May 3, 1952 in Portland ME to Cecil L and Dorothy (Wellman) Sawyer. Ron graduated from Windham High School in 1970 and attended SMVTI's Culinary program. He also held numerous certifications related to golf course/grounds maintenance and operations. After high school Ron worked with his mother at B&M, then moved onto managing a restaurant, and eventually found his niche in the golf course industry. He continued to work in the industry until he transitioned to landscape management with PebbleCreek Communities in Goodyear AZ where he retired in March 2021. Ron's loves were working on his Jeep, fishing with his grandson, and enjoying time with family and friends. A couple of his most recent cherished memories were of the family trip to DisneyWorld in 2017 and his 70th birthday celebration with family and old/new friends. Ron is survived by his wife of 44 years, Theresa; 3 sons, Abraham Sawyer and his partner Lori of Glendale AZ, John Sawyer and his wife Holly of Riviera Beach FL and Robert Sawyer and his wife Megan of Bridgton; brother Fred Sawyer and sister Mertie Porter; four grandchildren Tommy, Jack, Garrett, and Keira Sawyer; nieces Tammy and Stephanie Sawyer and nephew Gene Sawyer along with many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. His family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses of Beacon Hospice for their care and support, First Congregational Church of Bridgton for their prayers and support, and CMMC/Bridgton Hospital for their care and support during his fight. A private graveside service will be held at Chase Cemetery in Windham with Rev. Emily Goodnow officiating.
