Obituary

Windham Roland A. Libby, 70, died Thursday June 1st at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, surrounded by his family. He was born in Portland July 29, 1946 a son of William Jr. and Florence (Mayberry) Libby. Roland grew up in Windham and attended local schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army. After his military service Roland enjoyed a career as a truck driver with a variety of companies retiring from Shaw Brothers Construction in 2016. Roland was a longtime volunteer for the Windham Fire Department and was the town of Windham's first fire and police dispatcher. He enjoyed farming, gardening, tractors, and trains. Even though he drove a truck for many years he would have rather been farming. In addition to his parents Roland was predeceased by his brother Nelson J. Libby Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (Irish) Libby; children, Christopher Libby and his wife Melissa of Standish, Leandria Hollinshead and her husband Jeffrey of Box Elder, SD, Michele Richard and her husband Ovide "Buddy" of Windham, and Travis Libby of Windham; brothers, Theodore "Ted" Libby and his wife Donna of Lyman and Timothy "Tim" Libby of Sanford; grandchildren, Andrea, Shae, Kevin, Brice, Courtney, Breanna, Cameron, Deedrah, Hunter, Bridgette, and Kyle; and great grandchildren, Brandy, Lucas, Emma, and D.K. Roland's family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, New England Cancer Specialists, and the IV Therapy Center. A graveside service will be held 1:00PM Sunday June 11, at the White Rock Cemetery, North Gorham Road, Gorham. A Celebration of his life will follow at the White Rock Community Club, 34 Wilson Road, Gorham.
