Roger D. Francoeur died peacefully after a short illness on August 16, 2025. He was born on February 18, 1936 in Westbrook to Roland and Paula Francoeur. He attended St. Hyacinth School, graduated from Cheverus High School in 1955, joined the Air National Guard, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. On September 2, 1957 he married Elaine Lajoie of Lewiston and was married for 59 years before she passed in 2016. He worked for L&A Sausage, Fairchild Semiconductor, and S.D. Warren in the Security Dept. During the 1970s, he was a member of the volunteer Westbrook Rescue Unit. He was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He resided in Palm Bay, Florida for many years before returning back to Maine in 2015. His hobbies were woodworking, fishing, hunting, camping, card games, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He supported all the Boston sports teams and the Florida college teams. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Elaine, his infant son, Richard, and his brother Raymond Francoeur. Surviving him are his daughter Suzanne Merrill and husband Paul; grandchildren Kevin and wife Marie (Windham), Jason and wife Jillian (Auburn), Laura and partner Josh Fortier (Auburn). The loves of his life were his great-grandchildren, Eliza, Zachary, and Brooke Merrill; He is also survived by brothers Albert and Paul Francoeur; his brother-in-law Raymond and wife Doreen Lajoie, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. with a service on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Dolby, Blais, Segee Funeral home 35 Church St. Westbrook.
