Rody James Fitzgibbon
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rody James Fitzgibbon, 78, longtime resident of Windham, Maine, who departed this life on April 25, 2026, after a brief illness. Rody grew up in Easton, Massachusetts, the son of Rody and Edith Fitzgibbon. He was a Navy Vietnam Combat Veteran and a proud graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (The CIA). He spent his professional career working in every aspect of the food service industry, including executive chef, director and management positions, sales, training, and mentoring. He worked for many years at Northcenter Foodservice, now Performance Food Group. Rody was a member of various food service-related boards. He was also a charter member of the Camp Sunshine Foundation. He enjoyed playing golf, particularly the many years spent at Poland Spring Country Club in the company of friends. He will be remembered fondly for his kind spirit, quick wit, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him.
Rody’s greatest love was love of family. Rody and his beloved wife, Rosemary Fitzgibbon, were married more than fifty-seven years. He was a strong, devoted, generous, kind, and compassionate head of the family. His example and grace are treasured and will be profoundly missed.
Rody is survived by his devoted wife Rosemary Fitzgibbon, daughters Lisa Bendetson and Cindy Gobeille, grandsons Adam Bendetson, Caleb Gobeille, and Cameron Gobeille, and sons-in-law Eric Bendetson and Chris Gobeille, as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rody was preceded in death by his parents Rody and Edith Fitzgibbon, and his brother, Dale Fitzgibbon.
Visiting Hours will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 12, 2026, at Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Road, Windham. A Memorial service will follow at 3 PM. Private burial will be held at a later date.
