Westbrook— Roberta E.(Gray) Clukey, 74, passed away peacefully on July 30th. Born one of seventeen children to Albert and Mary Gray of Madison on March 8, 1938, she was predeceased by her parents and many brothers and sisters. Surviving are three brothers, Sammie, Charlie and Eddie, and four sisters, Lorraine, Emma, Pearl and Lou Ellen and many nieces and nephews. Her final weeks and days were spent surrounded by her loving family. Roberta is survived by her husband, Harleigh Clukey Sr., her four children, son, Harleigh Clukey Jr and wife Lorraine, daughters, Sherryl Wilson and husband John, and Lou Ann Lancaster and husband Steve, son, Scott Clukey and fiancé Laura Preston, and 10 grandchildren. Growing up in the small town of Madison, Roberta was a high energy individual who loved being on the go. She married Harleigh Clukey, also from Madison, and eventually moved their young family to Portland, and then settled in Westbrook. After a successful career at Data General Corp and Precis Metals, Roberta retired with Harleigh to Bonita Springs, Florida where they enjoyed their snow bird lifestyle for 10 years. While in Florida, Roberta remained "on the go" discovering artistic ability with oil painting, while also enjoying home improvement projects, line dancing, water aerobics, card games with friends, attending countless plays in southern Florida, and the many community activities available to her and Harleigh in their retirement neighborhood. Roberta was a devoted wife and mother—the family rock, and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her; she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Southern Maine who provided the additional care needed for mom in the final months of her illness. Special thanks and praise to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. We are extremely grateful for the exceptional devotion and care of the Gosnell staff and its volunteers, who generously offered kindness, comfort and compassion to us all in the last weeks of mom's journey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Westbrook. Interment will be private.
