WESTBROOK – Robert Joseph Thuotte, 89, of Westbrook passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Robert was born in Portland on July 2, 1929 the only child of Emile "Jack" and Adelaide (Kerwin) Thuotte. He grew up in Westbrook and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1949. He also attended Gray Business School. In 1959 he married Charlene (Devoe) Thuotte and raised three children. After graduating from high school Robert served in the US Airforce. Robert served as a mechanic and retired as a Staff Sargent. Robert began his career as a clothier and co-owner of the Men's Shop which was co-founded by his father. He was later employed by Union Oil. Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed many days at the golf course. He was a member of the Portland Country Club and Willowdale for many years. Robert served on the Westbrook School Committee. He was a member of the American Legion. Robert spent many summers with his family on Sebago Lake boating. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Robert enjoyed holidays with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the happiest surrounded by his family. Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlene (Devoe) Thuotte of Westbrook; his three children, Michael Thuotte, Stephen Thuotte, his daughter Susan Thuotte and her partner William Fournelle; four grandchildren, Marc Thuotte, Brian Thuotte, Karen Thuotte, and Jake Farrell; his daughter-in-law Cindy Thuotte; and five great granddaughters. Visiting hours will be held 5:00PM – 7:00PM Thursday July 26, at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook.
