Obituary

Robert J. Pratt 81 years old died peacefully on April 20,2016 at Maine Veterans Home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Keene New Hamphsire the son of Winfield and Germaine Pratt. He was educated at Deering High School where he excelled in Track and Field winning many awards. He was a Marine Corp. Veteran of the Korean War from 1952 until 1955. After Robert returned from serving his country he went on to serve his community in law enforcement. He initially was a Portland Police Officer and then went on to become a trooper for the Maine State Police. He later became the Director of Patient Accounts and Admitting at Maine Medical Center. He was then recruited to join Geisinger Medical Center in Danville Pennsylvania where her was Director of Patient Accounts until he retired. After retiring from Geisinger he then continued to work becoming Manager of Collections for Penn Credit in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he finally retired to spend time with family and to pursue golfing Robert throughout his life belonged to several professional organizations including American Guild of Patient Account Managers and served as their National President for a year term. He was a leading member of Danville and Portland Rotary Clubs. He was also a member of the Waterville Lyons Club and numerous golfing clubs. Robert was a member of Woodford Congregational Church where he was Deacon. He also was a member of Limerick Free Baptist Church where he had a special Christian friendship with their Pastor Jack Daniels. He also belonged to the Trinity Methodist Church in Danville, PA. Robert was married to the love of his life, the beautiful Joan Sanborn for 47years until her death in 2007. He was also predeceased by his daughter Lee Pratt, his two brothers Winfield R. Pratt Jr and Kenneth Pratt. Additionally, he was predeceased by special sister-in-laws Evelyn Waterman and Lilly Pratt. He is survived by: Cheryl Pawloski, Robin and husband Tom Pooler, Denise and husband Howie Chadbourne and Kristy and husband Shane Craig. Grandchildren: Melissa, Jamie, Bobby, Jessica, Courtney, Sara, Sean, Tyler, Samantha and Katrina. Great-grandchildren: Rashaun, Isabella, Jada, Lorelai, Molly, Chloe, Ava, Colby, Emily and Kroy. We want to acknowledge and thank The Maine Veterans Home at Scarborough employees for their love, care and support given generously to Robert. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Scarborough Veterans Home, 290 State Route One, Scarborough, Maine. Visitation will be held Friday April 22, 2016 from 2:00 until 3:00pm with the Funeral Service following at 3pm. at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 76 State Street, Gorham.
