Standish, Maine - Robert Scott Nelson, "Rob" 54 of Standish passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday February 12, 2024 at his home. He was born April 10, 1969 in Portland, Maine. Rob was the son of Esther E. Varney Nelson of Standish and the late Eugene Nelson of Windham. Rob graduated from Windham High School Class of 1987. After graduation he started his career in construction working as a heavy equipment operator. He moved to Florida for several years and stayed on that career path until moving back to Maine. Rob grew up enjoying NASCAR and collecting memorabilia. The best years of his life were spent on the local race car tracks with his brother Ken every Saturday night. He especially like the modified car races. He is predeceased by his brother Paul Nelson of Windham. He leaves behind his mother, Esther Nelson with whom he made his home; his brother Kenneth Nelson of Raymond and his nephew Kyle Nelson of Bridgton. Rob was a gentle soul and if you were lucky enough to have known him then you were blessed. The family would like to thank Dr. Fred Emerson and Emily Martin. The burial and celebration of life will be in June. More information will follow and be announced.
