"Gone Golfing" Westbrook, ME - Richard Paul Goss was born December 31, 1945, in Portland, the son of George and Dorothy {Gilloway} Goss. He attended Cheverus High School and played on their championship baseball team in 1961. He graduated from Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University until 1966 when he joined the Marine Corps. Rick worked many jobs until 1986 when he founded Radon Removal Systems which continues as a family business today. Rick passed peacefully on Monday, August 21st with Debbie, his wife of 40 years by his side. He is survived by sons Kristofer and his wife Kim of Falmouth, Gregory Miller and his wife Crystal of Saco and Scott Miller and his wife Paula of Cornish, six grandchildren, Carl Lawrence, Shelby and Samantha Miller and Zoe, Lily and Sara Goss and three great grandchildren, Noah Miller, Korsan Hardy and Naomi Sprague, a sister, Janice and nephew Tony and family of Manchester, NH. He was predeceased by his son, Damian of Cornish. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, coach, and friend. When Rick spoke, the whole room listened. Whether writing or in person his words were eloquent and captivating. He kept journals throughout his life filled with stories of his adventures, accomplishments, his sorrows, and joys. As an avid reader, writer, and traveler Rick had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and connection. He made friends wherever he went. It seems like everyone knew Rick and that is because he took the time to get to know every person that he crossed paths with. He was a beloved member of both the Westbrook and Venice, Florida communities. He was a much-loved man! A celebration of life will be held at Riverside Golf Course on Riverside Street in Portland on Saturday, September 9th from two to five o'clock.
