Obituary

Richard A. Harvey, 72, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Westbrook, the son of Valdor and Doris (Jeffreys) Harvey.  He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1957, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He retired as a Supervisor after thirty-five years of employment with S.D. Warren Paper Company.  For the past 17 years he and his wife Denise have wintered in Florida. Dick enjoyed sports throughout his lifetime.   He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and softball.  He enjoyed coaching Little League and coaching girls basketball at Westbrook High School.  His greatest enjoyment was attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events along with family gatherings.   Dick was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.   He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Denise (Tanguay) Harvey of Westbrook; a son Richard and his wife Debbie Harvey of Readfield: daughters Katherine and her husband Gregg Jones of Westbrook, Michelle and her husband John Blais of Westbrook, and Marcy and her husband Jim Blais of Westbrook; his sisters Priscilla Doucette of Lyman and Judy and her husband Mike Green of So. Portland; grandchildren Steve Jones, Matt and his wife Rachel Jones, Rachel and her husband Brad Bryant, Richie, Emily, and Robbie Harvey, Katie and Joe Blais, Jenni and Andrew Blais; and a great grandson Jackson Jones. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday at St. Anthony's Church.  Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330
