Richard Everett "Red" Boothby, 92, of Oakland Ave., Westbrook, passed away peacefully Friday, May 9, at Springbrook Nursing Home. He was born in Westbrook, the son of Everett and Lydia (Newell) Boothby. He was raised and educated in Westbrook and later served in the U.S. Army, where he was an expert rifleman. After serving his country Red worked at the S.D. Warren Paper Co for many years before retiring. He was a member and Past Master of the Manchester Post, American Legion, a member and Past Master of the Temple Lodge of Mason's, and served as a hunter safety coordinator, the Forest City Rod and Gun Club and was an auxiliary policeman for the City of Westbrook. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Gagnier Boothby of Westbrook; his children Richard R. Boothby and his wife Janice of Scarborough, Larry C. Boothby and his wife Jean of Port Washington, WI, and Bonnie Rand and her husband Bruce of Scarborough; his step-children Daniel Mazerolle and his wife Bonnie of Buxton, Alan Mazerolle of Falmouth, Jan Mazerolle of Scarborough, Geraldine Mazerolle of Sanford, and Michelle Mazerolle of Westbrook; a sister Jacqueline Allard of Westbrook; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 3 PM. Monday May 12, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St. Westbrook. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Richards name to a charity of your choice.
