Reta M. Young "Rere", 96, died peacefully at her home in Gorham on February 25, 2022. She was born on February 13, 1926, in Waterville, the daughter of the late Albert and Hazel Alexander Costley. Reta graduated from Waterville High School and attended nursing school at John's Hopkins. After nursing school, she married the love of her life, Carroll Young. Together they traveled to various countries and places in the U.S. while raising a family on their dairy farm. They celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Reta was a past president and lifetime member of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine. Reta enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Reta found great joy in being the quintessential caretaker for her family: she utilized her creativity to provide a loving home for their six boys, and that carried to her care of her grandchildren through homemade baked goodies and Christmas pajamas. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Carroll, brothers James and Frederick Costleyand great-grandson Dexter. She is survived by her sister Jane, of Waterville; her sons Craig and wife Meredith, of Gorham; Brad, of Gorham; Richard and wife Peggy, of Brewer; Timmy and partner Marry-Ellen of California; Walter, of Gorham; Jason and partner Helena ofPortland; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Corey, Eric, Josh, Ryan, Cole, Ethan, Maria, Keira and four great-grandchildren Fletcher, Jasper, Samuel, and Lily. The family thanks the staff of Gorham Public Safety for their professionalism and support. Per her request, there will be no funeral services, a celebration of life will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cressey Road United Methodist Church.
