BUXTON – Rebecca Scott (Dixon) Hanson, 69, died on April 3, 2017. She was born in Portland, on August 19, 1947, the daughter of Guy and Joan (Collins) Dixon. Rebecca was a lifelong resident of Buxton, graduating from Bonny Eagle High School in 1965. After high school, she graduated from Westbrook College, where she studied to become a teacher. On August 8, 1969, she married Donald Hanson, her soul mate, and together they raised their two daughters. Nothing brought more joy to Rebecca's life than her family. In fact, she spent her career working with her father, brothers, children, son-in-law, and nephews at Dixon Bros., a family owned business that her father built in 1930. She was extremely active in her grandchildren's lives, being with them to daily to help raise them. Always thinking of others, Rebecca opened her house to everyone, and was the first to offer help to those in need. In addition to her parents, Rebecca is predeceased by her husband Donald, in 1991. Rebecca is survived by her daughters, Rachel Gallant and husband Larry, and Joanne Pearson and her significant other Greg Lawn, of Buxton; grandchildren, Catherine Sandberg and husband Philip, Thomas Gallant, Rebecca Gallant, Allie Pearson, Sydney Pearson, Corey Gallant and wife Jessica, and Amanda Dunnells and husband Darren; great grandchildren, Chase and Liam Sandberg, Brandon and Kyle Gallant, and Hunter and Gauge Dunnells; brothers, David Dixon and wife Jane of Buxton, Joseph Dixon and wife Deborah of Buxton, and Mark Dixon and wife Anne of North Yarmouth; nieces and nephews, Michael Dixon and wife Maria, Benjamin Dixon and fiancé Stephanie, Andrew Dixon, and Leah Dixon; great-nieces and nephews, Conner, Kylee, Gavin, Reese, Maddison and Noah. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the North Congregational Church, 22 Church Hill Rd., Buxton. Burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rebecca's honor to the Buxton Food Co-Op, 262 Haines Meadow Road, Buxton Maine, 929-8806.
