Obituary

Westbrook,           Morrill, Raymond Mathias, 65 of Westbrook, Maine passed away on March 6, 2016, at home with family at his side after a brief battle with lung cancer.  Born to Raymond MacNaught Morrill and Marie Paulette Legere.  Ray grew up in Westbrook and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1968.  After graduating, he joined the Marines as a private first class and served in Vietnam.            Upon returning from Vietnam as a DAV he married Mary Sarah Simpson in 1973.  He managed the Chess King at the Maine mall for many years then went on to work for the Maine Youth Center/Long Creek Development until his retirement in 2012.  As a member of the IATSE union he rigged rock shows and other events at the Cumberland County Civic Center.  He was a member of the Pine Tree Rod and Gun Club and the Saco Bay Yacht Club.  He enjoyed boating, camping, and tinkering in his garage.  Most of all he loved his family, and especially his two granddaughters.  They were the light his life.  Ray was predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael.  He is survived by his wife Mary of forty-three years, son Brendon, daughter Cara Ratliffe, her husband Rich Ratliffe and their two daughters Mary and Sophia, his sisters Cynthia Morrill and Patricia and her husband Fredrick Stuart, his brother Steven Morrill, and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his wonderful brother and sister in laws, Robert Simpson and Cindy Look.  A special thank you to all of his good friends that visited and took care of Ray during his illness.  Thank you to Hospice of Southern Maine and Hospice VA for their support and comfort.  Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 10 from 6 to 8 PM, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St. Westbrook, ME.  Interment with military honors will take place in the spring.   Online condolences can be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com           In lieu of flowers donations can go to Hospice Of Southern Maine, 180 Us Route 1, Scarborough,  ME 04074.
