Obituary

Portland  – Raymond (Ray) F. King,70, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the Barron Center in Portland following a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Raymond was born on January 20, 1946, and was raised in Westbrook on Quimby Ave. He was the son of Raymond F. King, Sr. and Jennie Roma-King.   He graduated from Cheverus High School in 1964, and earned an Associate Degree from Northeast Business School in New Hampshire.  Ray married Claudette Fecteau on November 26, 1966, raising their three children in both Portland and Westbrook.  He started his career at Noyes Tire Co. in Westbrook for 10 years.  He then moved on to Sappi Fine Paper (formerly SD Warren Co), retiring after 28 years.  He spent over 10 years on the Executive Board of the United Paper Workers International Union, serving with pride, dedication and enthusiasm.   Raymond passionately rooted for the Red Sox, Celtics and Colts, and treasured watching all three teams win championships. He enjoyed passing along his vast knowledge of basketball and baseball to his children and grandchildren, whom were the loves of his life. He loved spending time at Little Sebago Lake, especially summers where he relished boating and watching the setting summer sun. He leaves his wife of 49 years, Claudette (Fecteau) King; his two daughters, Laurie Berry and Kelly Conley; his son, Christopher King; sons-in-law, Paul Berry and Kevin Conley; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth King; his four grandchildren, Ian King, Jennilee Witham, Emily King and Michelle King; his sisters, Sheila Thibodeau and Dolores Hooper; and brother, Robert King. Also, Sister-in-law Celeste Fecteau, Brothers-in-law Roger Fecteau (wife Kathleen), Dennis Fecteau (Stella Roberge) , Richard Feeney and many nieces & nephews. Ray was predeceased by a third sister, Nancy Feeney.  The King family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the many Nurses, CNA's, and staff at BC2 for the compassionate love and care they provided each and every day to Ray. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 11th at 10:30 a.m. at St Anthony's Catholic Church in Westbrook.  Visitation will be held Sunday April 10th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, Westbrook.
