Standish Ralph L. Richardson, "Bampa" 86, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on Whites Bridge Rd on Friday November 10, 2017. He was born on June 14, 1931, in Standish to Everett and Margaret (Deering) Richardson. Ralph lived his whole life on Whites Bridge Rd in Standish and was a 1949 graduate of Standish High School. Following school Ralph worked for his father at Richardson's Boat yard before proudly serving his country in the US Navy. Upon returning home from the Navy he was elected Road Commissioner for the Town of Standish for 21 years. Ralph was widely known for his excavating business and those who worked for him thought of him as a father figure. In 1954 Ralph began dating his wife Norma, after stealing her soda at the roller skating rink. They were married on July 22, 1955 and spent the next 62 years raising their family, roller skating, dancing, skiing and traveling. In his free time Ralph loved flying his Cub J-3, working with wood, took great pride in his garden and enjoyed traveling with his close knit group of friends and his family. Ralph also loved his animals, most recently his Boston Terriers, Gidget, Peanut, Kona and Luna. Ralph was a member of the Presumpscot Lodge #70 AF & AM, Kora Temple Lakes Region Shrine Club. In addition to his parents Ralph was predeceased by his brother Richard E. Richardson. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma (Hodgkin) Richardson; children; Laurie Richardson Briggs of Standish, Ra – Lynn Verrillo and partner Paul Flukey of Portland, Ronald E. Richardson and wife Joan M. of Standish, R. James Richardson and wife Paula H. of Standish, granddaughter; Heather Dyer and husband Frank; grandchildren; Anthony and wife Vanessa, Tommy, Alex, and Allina Verrillo, Josh and wife Lauren, Christian, Connor and wife Kelly Briggs, Lea and Lewin Pillsbury; great grandchildren; Reid Wallingford, Maria and Ryan Dyer and Quinton Verrillo; great-great grandson Adrian Brokus; nephews, nieces and many extended family members and friends. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Eugene Paluso and the staff at Lake Region Primary Care for treating Ralph with the utmost dignity and respect, always keeping his best interests in mind. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following at the Windham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee 434 River Road, Windham. A reception will follow at the Little Falls Baptist Church.
