Obituary

Gorham- Rachel Britting, 88, passed away April 18, 2016, at Gorham House after a long battle with dementia.  She was a long-time resident of Westbrook and a communicant of St. Mary's Church where she was involved in many of its sponsored activities such as the Mothers Club of Saint Mary's School and Leader of their Girl Scout Troup.  Rae, as she liked to be called, was also active politically serving on various local presidential campaigns and voting polls. She married George W. Britting in October of 1948.  Rae was a housewife raising their 4 children.  She returned to work and retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield where she worked in Accounts Receivables for many years. Rae was predeceased by her husband, George, who passed away in 1991.  She is survived by their Son, Brian Britting and his wife Patrice of Westbrook; daughters Donna Wilhelm and her husband Michael of Casco; Brenda Fiorini and her husband John of South Portland; and Rae Theriault and her husband Lawrence of Buxton as well as by 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at St. Hyacinth Cemetery in Westbrook on Thursday, April 21 at 9:00 a.m.  Online condolences can be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in Memory of Rae (Rachel) Britting.
