Obituary

Pius G. Michaud, 87, passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center on Friday, December 4, 2020. Pius was born in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada on March 31, 1933. He was the son of Leo D. and Charlotte (Lottie Pelletier) Michaud. Pius married Rita (Bernier) Michaud on November 8, 1952 and lived on the farm with his parents until they decided to move with their young daughters, 3 year old Jacqueline and 9 month old Rachel in 1956 to South Portland. Pius initially worked for Cushman Bakery in Portland. He was hired by First National Bakery on Read Street in Portland and was employed by them for 20 plus years until they closed. In 1959, Pius and Rita's family grew in size with the addition of 2 year old Carol and new baby Michael; they moved to Newton Street in Portland. When Pius learned that First National Bakery would be closing, Pius enjoyed spending some of his spare time watching and learning repair work and painting preformed on vehicles at Delta Auto Body owned by Art Girard. When the First National Bakery closed, he opened his own small auto body shop completing small repairs and painting in his garage on Newton Street full time. His quality work helped his customer base grow over the years. He was loved by many. Pius enjoyed 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and family gatherings. He especially enjoyed meeting at his favorite restaurant; eating Beef Curry at China Village in Gray. He was predeceased by his parents; his older and only sister, Martine Michaud Santerre from South Portland, in August of 2019. He is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Jacqueline, and her husband Ronald Bisesti, of Windham, Rachel, and her husband James Tirrell Jr, of Windham, Carol, and her husband James Galipeau, of Standish and Michael, and his wife Elaine Michaud, of Windham; grandchildren, Randi A McMann, Keith Lamkin, Kevin Lamkin, Shannon Michaud Ture, Ryan Michaud, Brittany Michaud, James Galipeau II, Andrew Galipeau, Erica Pulsoni Draper, and Richard Bisesti; great grandchildren, Michael Robert Corkum, Ava Lamkin, Sarah Jane Ture, Reesen Bisesti, Gianni Pulsoni Draper, and Olivia Draper. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee.
