Obituary

Phyllis H. Rogers passed away on October 15, 2023, at the age of 90, peacefully at home with her children by her side. Phyllis was born on December 16, 1932 to John and Elizabeth Harnois in Westbrook and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1951. Here she met the love of her life, Byron Rogers, whom she married on November 21st 1953. While Byron was in the Navy, the two of them resided in Florida. Phyllis spent her time there enjoying the sun, gardening, working for a car dealership and local bank. In 1957, Byron and Phyllis returned to Westbrook to settle and start a family. Phyllis is known to her family and friends to be an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and church community member. Phyllis was a life-long parishioner of St. Hyacinth Church, faithfully attended Mass every weekend, served as a Eucharistic minister, and was involved in many years of church activities and fairs. Along with being dedicated to her church, Phyllis was also a devoted wife and mother. Phyllis' pride and joy were her and Byron's nine children. Whenever anyone ran into her, they could expect the latest updates on how everyone was doing. Phyllis also loved her gardens and shopping for more of just the right flowers at Broadway Gardens. Her nights were filled with being curled up on the couch watching Boston sports. Phyllis was the happiest when family and friends were together at the house for one of the many family gatherings, especially the 4th of July and Christmas Day. Her cheery personality was contagious to everyone she was around. Everything Phyllis did was done with love, kindness and dedication, especially running a home daycare for 21 years. Children that had the honor of being with Auntie Phyl learned the importance of being part of a family, potty training, learning to swim, and so much more… all for the low price of $25 a week! Phyllis was predeceased by three sons: Scott, David and Bruce, six sisters, one brother and her husband Byron. Phyllis is survived by Bradley and wife Criselda, Jimmy and wife Kathy, Christopher and wife Lorrie, Jennifer and husband John, Jeff and wife Nicki, Karen and husband Bruce, grandchildren, Nicholas, Lindsey and husband Tony, Jeremy, Brandon and wife Rachel, Andrew, Alicia and wife Kara, Elizabeth and husband Chris, Kristen and husband Dave, Anna, Emily, Jack, Sam, Taylor, Olivia, Travis and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kaiya, Bella, McKenzie, Lincoln, Sawyer, Evan and Penelope; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 35 Church St. Westbrook. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Hyacinth Church, burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
