Saco Phyllis E. (Morse) MacKenzie lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at her home in Saco with her family by her side. Born in Portland, Maine on December 12, 1930, she was the daughter of Merrill and Iva Morse. She married the love of her life Eugene N. (Bump) MacKenzie in 1948, a marriage that would last 66 wonderful years. They relocated to Virginia so Gene could commute to Washington, DC while enlisted in the Marines. Upon completing his duties serving our country, they moved back to Maine for a bit then to Plantsville, Connecticut where Phyllis worked at Allied Controls Inc. with her favorite sister-in-law Thelma (they were hell on wheels together). Eventually they returned to Maine again and settled in. Phyllis worked at Shaw's Supermarkets and Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland where she retired from. In retirement, they bought a travel trailer and cruised the east coast, eventually buying a home and wintering in Ellenton, Florida and summering in Falmouth and Sebago, Maine. Phyllis loved reading, walking, jigsaw puzzles, snowmobile runs in Errol, NH and most recently, sunsets! She is survived by her five children, Dean Mackenzie and his wife Debbie of Pace FL, Brenda and her husband Ronald Garland of Westbrook, ME, Gail MacKenzie and her husband Alton Clark of Sebago, ME, Eugene (Paul) MacKenzie and his wife Rhonda of Punta Gorda FL, and Jan and her husband Samuel H. Minervino of Saco, ME. ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, a brother Merrill (Bud) Morse and his wife Sue, a sister Leona White, a brother-in-law Roland MacKenzie, and her best friend June Forbes. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Freeport Place and the angels at Hospice of Southern Maine for all their care and support through this difficult journey Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00PM Saturday January 20, at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church St. Westbrook.
