Windham Phyllis E. Goodwin, 91, died Sunday January 14, 2018, at Ledgewood Manor. She was born June 19. 1926, in Portland, a daughter of Leroy and Irene (Gribbin) Verrill. Phyllis grew up in Windham and was a 1944 graduate of Windham High School. She retired from Ledgewood Manor after 26 years as a CNA. Phyllis was a dedicated member of the Highland Cliff Advent Christian Church where she facilitated youth groups for many years. She enjoyed cross stich and volunteering at the Root Cellar. She will be remembered for her vivacious personality and her signature laugh. In addition to her parents Phyllis was predeceased by her first husband William Szostak; second husband Robert Goodwin; children, John Szostak, and Barbara Jean Szostak; grandchildren, Naomi Shaw and Leroy Szostak; and brothers Phillip Verrill and Richard Verrill. She is survived by her son Tom Szostak and his wife Sally of Windham; daughters, Vickie Bowen of Windham, and Mary Dutton and her husband Thomas of Raymond; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Highland Cliff Advent Christian Church, 96 Highland Cliff Rd, Windham. Burial will be held in the spring at Chase Cemetery, Windham.
