Portland, ME - Phillip D. Patterson of Westbrook, ME, known to many as Phil, passed away on August 23, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by his devoted and caring family. He was born on December 23, 1946, in Biddeford, ME.

Phil will be remembered as a kind and caring man with a golden heart the size of Texas. He brought joy to those around him with his lively spirit, his humor, and his gift for entertaining. He enjoyed playing bass and drums in a band, and on stage he was more than a musician—he was an entertainer who delighted in doing funny skits and making people laugh. His love of fun carried into every part of his life, from his passion for motorcycles and muscle cars to the playful way he moved through the world.

He had a youthful heart and a deep enthusiasm for adventure. He loved his trips to Disney and Universal Studios, so much so that he went fifteen times. He especially enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion rides. That sense of delight and refusal to ever truly grow up became one of the many things those who loved him cherished most about him.

At the center of Phil’s life was the time he shared with Julie Poulin, his partner for more than 50 years. Together, they built a life filled with boating, camping, and joyful travel, creating years of companionship and memories. He also treasured time with his son, Ray, attending every school sporting event he could and even wrestling around with him like two kids. Those moments spoke to the warmth, devotion, and playful love that defined him as a husband, partner, and father.

His greatest pride and joy were his two beautiful granddaughters, Hailey and Samantha. They held a special place in his heart and were among the brightest blessings of his life.

Phil is survived by his life partner, Julie Poulin. He is also survived by his son, Raymond Poulin, and Raymond’s wife, Nikki, as well as by his cherished granddaughters, Hailey and Samantha. He also leaves behind his seven nieces and nephews who were enriched by his laughter, his tenderness, and his unmistakable spirit, and his memory will remain a lasting source of love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John V. and Laura D. (Martel) Patterson; and his brother, John Patterson, who also played in the band for many years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 380 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook, ME.  A Celebration of his life will follow at Stockhouse Restaurant, 506 Main St Westbrook, ME.

Phil’s life was marked by music, laughter, adventure, and deep love for his family. He will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
