Obituary

Philip Gerard Galipeau of Westbrook, Maine and Greenville, South Carolina passed away on July 22,2024. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday. Born in Westbrook Maine, Phil was the son of the late Gerard and Yvette Galipeau. Thanks to a broken down car and a girl that needed a ride home from work one night, Phil met his wife of 59 years, Mary L. Galipeau. The two were married in 1965 and raised three children together. Phil was an avid woodworker and handyman. He built several of their homes and if he didn't build it, he remodeled it. He always had a house project in the works. Phil also enjoyed camping and spent several years at Sebago Lake in Maine with his family. After retiring from a career in Retail Management, he and Mary continued their camping adventures in their RV, spending the cold, Maine winter months in Florida and South Carolina with family and friends. Phil was a member of the Catholic Church wherever his adventures took him and most recently attended St. Mary Magdalene Church in Greenville, S.C. and enjoyed listening to Father John Unni at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Along with his wife Mary, Phil is survived by his three children, Jennifer Galipeau of Kennebunk, Maine, Jaime Jamieson of South Portland, Maine, and Nick Galipeau of Greenville, South Carolina as well as his 11 grandchildren, Alec, Nicholas, Kate and Sarah Barry, Maddie, Ian, Colin and Nora Jamieson and Olivia, Jacob and Charlie Galipeau. Phil is also survived by his older brother, Donald Galipeau of Windham, Maine and his younger sister, Norma Gagnon of Buxton, Maine. Visitation will begin held Friday August 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
