Pauline Yvonne Albert
Siulinski
September 16, 1928 – April 7, 2026
Pauline Yvonne Albert Siulinski, a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 97, at the Gorham House. She was born on September 16, 1928, in Westbrook, Maine, the third daughter of Auguste and Bernadette Albert. Her father was among the founders of Westbrook’s beloved clothing store, The Men’s Shop. Pauline was raised in the family home on Bridge Street.
Pauline’s paternal grandfather, Ferdinand Albert, was born in Caraquet, New Brunswick, where the Albert family’s roots ran deep. Descended from fishermen of Coutances, France, her ancestors were among the early settlers who received British land grants, establishing the Alberts as one of Caraquet’s founding families. In the late 19th century, Ferdinand joined a wave of French Canadians seeking opportunity in Westbrook, where he worked as a silk weaver at the Haskell Silk Mill. He met Georgiana Hebert of Quebec, a fellow émigré, and the two were married in 1895, beginning the family’s Maine legacy.
Pauline graduated from St. Hyacinth School in Westbrook in 1943 and went on to attend St. Regis Academy in Berlin, New Hampshire, before transferring to St. Joseph’s Academy in Portland, where she graduated in 1947. She later pursued secretarial studies at the Kathleen Dell School in Boston, completing a two-year executive program in 1949. Following her studies, Pauline worked at Hartford Insurance in Portland, where she fondly recalled her time as a typist and secretary.
Pauline held especially fond memories of summers spent at Crescent Lake during her childhood and at Pine Point in her younger years. She loved music and dancing, particularly the big band era, and enjoyed artists such as Al Jolson, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Andy Williams.
On June 16, 1952, Pauline married Jack Siulinski of Portland. Together they built a life centered on family, raising six children. After a brief time in New Jersey for Jack’s early career, they returned to Maine, where Jack worked as a cameraman at WGAN in Portland. The family settled in Westbrook, where their home on Sargent Street became the heart of family life for decades.
Pauline was deeply dedicated to her role as a homemaker. She maintained a well-run household with care and precision, known for her structured routines and home-cooked meals served each evening. Her specialties included hearty casseroles, tomato soup, and beloved desserts such as chocolate mint squares. She was also committed to her community, volunteering regularly for the March of Dimes.
Pauline and Jack shared many happy years together, enjoying skiing in the winter and boating in the summer. They fostered a love of the outdoors and water in their children through family time at Sebago Lake, visits to Kinney Shores, and time spent at home in the backyard pool.
Friendship was an important part of Pauline’s life. She cherished time spent with friends through gatherings, holiday celebrations, and trips throughout New England. She was especially close to her lifelong friend Ruth (Grondin) Foley. A longtime member of a biweekly bridge club, Pauline valued both the companionship and the enjoyment these gatherings brought.
Travel brought Pauline great joy throughout her life. Among her most treasured experiences was a trip to Paris in 1996, where she delighted in speaking French, her first language. Another highlight was a helicopter tour over Waimea Canyon in Kauai. Pauline and Jack also made many trips to Florida over the years and traveled often to visit their children across the country.
Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Jack Siulinski; her parents, Auguste and Bernadette Albert; her sisters, Lorraine Johnley and Jeanne Lebel; and her brother, Roland Albert. She is survived by her six children: Claudia Gallant of Westbrook; Brian Siulinski and wife Debbie of Colorado; Bruce Siulinski and wife Joan of North Carolina; Craig Siulinski of Falmouth; Paula Lowell and husband Mark of Old Orchard Beach; and James Siulinski and wife Laurel of Cumberland. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jill Gallant-Shaw of Massachusetts, Katie Siulinski Trojacek of Colorado, Alyssa (Lowell) Mondello of Nashville, Aaron Lowell of Denver, Jack Siulinski of Falmouth, and Jim Siulinski of North Yarmouth, as well as eight great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to their dear friend Gayl (Foley) Sinclair and to Pauline’s longtime caregiver, Lola Reny, for their devoted care and support. The family also wishes to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses at the Gorham House and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care.
