Mims, FL & Gorham Paul Clayton Johnston Sr., 80, died unexpectedly Friday March 18, 2016 at the Parish Medical Center in Titusville, FL. He was born January 23, 1936, in Bangor, a son of Charles and Charlotte Johnston. Following his education in Bangor, Paul entered the US Naval Reserve. He was a Chaplin and also a loved to paint. He worked at Porteous in earlier years and as a salesman for a mobile home business. Paul later went back to college and graduated with a degree in teaching. He taught New Hampshire and Poland, ME where he retired. In addition to his parents Paul was predeceased by his sisters, Joyce and Gwendolyn Collins; and a brother Vaughan Johnston. He his survived by his wife Ruth (Andrews) Johnston with whom he shared 40 years of marriage; sons, Paul Johnston Jr. and his wife Kathy, and Wayne Johnston and his wife Debbie; step daughters, Vicki Powell and her husband Jay, and Nancy Guptill and her husband Roger; numerous grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1:00PM Monday April 18, at the Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland.
