Patricia T Abbott, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Josephs Manor in Portland. She was born in Peabody, MA on December 6, 1926, the daughter of Patrick and Alice (Kellett) Tierney, and resided in Danvers until 1937, when she moved with her family to South Paris. She graduated from Paris High School and attended Gorham Normal School, now known as U.S.M in Gorham. Patricia, also known as Tisha for most of her life, travelled extensively as a military wife while married to her first husband, Major Maurice B. Dullea. Upon returning to Maine in 1964, Patricia would spend the next 42 years living in the Norway–South Paris area where she had many friends and was involved in numerous church and civic organizations. She was an active parish member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Norway. She retired from New England Telephone in 1983 after many years of service. Patricia moved to Portland in 2006, living five years at Birchwoods, at Canco Assisted Living, and finally at St. Josephs Manor for the past three years. Pat was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was gifted with many artistic talents, most notably her lovely soprano voice which graced many masses, weddings, and funerals. Always warm and outgoing, her smile was genuine and her Catholic faith unwavering. She kept that smile and positive countenance to the very end, amazing everyone around her. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, her sister Grace Wiley, and her nephew, Peter Wiley. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Gottlieb, son-in-law Jeffrey, and grandsons Matthew and Alexander, as well as her best friend of 68 years, Rachel Roy of Falmouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday January 31, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 268 Brown St. in Westbrook. A committal service will be held at St. Hyacinth Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Pat's family would like to thank the entire staff of St. Josephs Manor for their wonderful compassionate care as well as each and every team member from Sol Amor Hospice who provided exceptional love and support to both Pat and her family.
