Windham, ME – Patricia "Patty" Charest, 81, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, after a courageous 19-year battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Dover, NH, Patty later made Scarborough, ME, her home, where she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1961. She dedicated much of her early life to raising her three children as a devoted stay-at-home mother before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey, founding, and operating The Patty Wagon, a cherished local food truck, for 20 years. She and her husband, Jerry, then retired to their lakeside home in Windham, a place of comfort and cherished memories, where Patty found peace in the beauty of nature and the company of those she loved most. Patty was known for her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerald Charest, and their children: Kelly Dickinson of Scarborough, Karen (Danny) Yeaton of Windham, and Kevin (Debbi) Charest of Gorham. She was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren—Matthew, Isabella, Samuel, Nicholas, Nathan, and Alexander—who brought endless light into her life. She is reunited in peace with her parents, Irma, and James Mater, as well as her siblings, Michael and James Mater, and Barbara Douglas. She leaves behind a brother, Joseph (Martha) Mater of Scarborough. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ledgewood Manor for their exceptional care and affection during Patty's brief stay. Honoring Patty's wishes, there will be no formal services. A private gathering to scatter her ashes will be held in the spring when the world begins to bloom again—just as she would have wanted. Patty's legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will forever surround us—in every shared meal, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the peaceful whisper of the trees by the lake she so dearly loved. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. https://www.michaeljfox.org/ Rest peacefully, Patty. You will always be loved.
