Omer J. Richard, 91, of Deerwood St., Scarborough, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was born and raised in Rumford, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Gaudette) Richard. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Omer worked for the US Postal Service for 27 years before retiring. After his retirement he worked as a Millwright foreman and also operated his own general store in Peru, ME. He enjoyed traveling and has lived in many different states. Omer was an avid hunter and fisherman, pursuing salmon and elk in different states where he resided. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Rosalie (August) Richard of Scarborough; sons John Richard of Idaho, and Jim and wife Debbie Richard of Westbrook; daughters Jeanne Wilbur and husband Rob, Jolene and husband Audie Dufrenne, and Julie Linn, all of Louisiana; grandchildren David Richard, Jessica Richard, Lindsay Nichols, Danielle Linn, and Nicholas Linn; great grandchildren Caitlin Finley, Liam Finley, Euan Finley, and Peter Nichols; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Thursday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Interment in the Maine Veterans Cemetery will be at a later date.
