Westbrook- Olive Alexandrine Caron, 85, a lifelong resident of Westbrook, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Gorham House. She was born in Westbrook on September 28, 1930, daughter of Alexander and Olive (Fortier) Lamontagne. Olive married Lionel Caron and together they raised three children. She worked for many years, while raising her children and taking care of her home. Olive enjoyed skiing, golfing, tennis, painting and knitting. She was a skilled seamstress, making much of her own clothes and special garments for others as well. She was a long time communicant of St. Hyacinth Church in Westbrook. Although she had some health challenges late in life she kept a positive outlook and a sense of humor and would occasionally say odd things and then smirk to see if you caught it. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Donna French, and her siblings. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lionel Caron; her two sons, Michael and his wife Julia (Bjorn) Caron, and Dennis and his wife Lourdes (Benito) Caron; her son in law John French; her 8 grandchildren, Nicole Lebel, Danielle Claire, Melissa Crean, Scott Caron, Jillian Bjorn-Caron, Cristina Leake, Alexander Caron, Benjamin Caron; 6 great grandchildren, Abigail Lebel, Samuel Claire, Jacob Claire, Cole Crean, Addison Caron, and Makayla Caron. The family would like to thank the Gorham House Staff for all the care they have given to Olive. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM Monday, April 4th, 2016 at St. Anthony's Church, 268 Brown St, Westbrook. Interment will be at a later date in the spring.
