There is a quote by Jamie Anderson that is fitting to what is being felt in our loss "Grief, I've learned is really just love. It's all the Love You want to give but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just Love with no place to go." Oakley Ryder Schmidt was born June 25th, 2021, in Lewiston, Maine to Natasha and Jake Schmidt and was unexpectedly taken from us to be with the lord in heaven on May 22nd, 2024. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Grayson Schmidt, his maternal grandparents, Crystal Johnson and John Hall, and his maternal great grandmother, Kathryn Walrath, Paternal grandparents Jerry and Sandy Schmidt along with numerous amounts of aunts, uncles, and cousins. It is fitting that spider-man was his favorite superhero as he weaved an unbreakable web in all of our hearts in the short- time we had with him. Oakley was the sweetest, smartest little boy. He was full of Love, Laughter, Curiosity, and with his adventurous spirit, a tad bit of mischief. His infectious smile could light up the darkest of days and his laugh could echo in your heart. While he was with us, he enjoyed playing outdoors, loved being wherever his big brother was and doing whatever he was doing. He enjoyed playing with his monster trucks and watching Blippi. He often loved playing with his great grandmother and cousins. He loved helping mommy pick out plants and helping daddy wash and work on cars. He is greeted in heaven by past grandparents and relatives. They are watching over us waiting, as we are, for the day we meet again. Memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 1 PM, at Dolby, Blais & Segee, Westbrook Chapel, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, ME. The continuation of his celebration of life with a pot luck lunch will be held at the American Legion at 300 Conant Street, Westbrook from 2 to 6 pm to celebrate all the memorable times we were blessed to spend with him.
