Obituary

Florida- Norwood A. "Woody" LeConte, 86, of Venice, Florida and formally Westbrook, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017 in Florida. Woody was the last surviving triplet, born on February 8, 1931 in Westbrook, to Eugene and Hazel (Landry) LeConte. Woody developed a strong work ethic at age 10 and contributed to the family income by delivering the daily newspaper. This was a family tradition that he enjoyed. He even out delivered his brothers and sisters by having the largest paper route. Woody graduated from Westbrook High School in 1950 and attended North Eastern Business College for two years prior to serving in the U.S. Air Force in June 1952. During the Korean War, Woody served as a radio operator stationed in North Africa and Germany. Woody started his professional career in Boston working for eleven years at Keystone Mutual Funds prior to returning to his family home in Westbrook. He retired from the City of Portland after 25 years of service. Throughout his life, Woody traveled to many reunions with his Air Force Unit; which included Pigeon Forge, Las Vegas, Biloxi, San Antonio, Washington D.C. and after 50 years, his AF Unit returned to Darmstadt Germany. These experiences and the great friendships he made shaped his life. Woody was a committed member of the Catholic Church. He was a man with a huge heart who recognized the injustice of poverty and did what he could to contribute. He is pre deceased by his six brothers- his triplet brothers Normand and Norris; Conrad, Russell, Robert, Eugene Jr. and two sisters Christine LeConte and Carleen Simpson. He is survived by his brother Paul LeConte of Westbrook. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 1-2:30 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Chapel, 35 Church St. Westbrook.
