Obituary

Norma Lucille Buffum, 84, of Sanford, Maine died Wednesday May 3rd at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Born June 1, 1932 in Portland, Maine to William Stanley Miller and Catherine Sarah Libby. She was the last surviving of nine children. She was married to the late Douglas Arthur Buffum for 55 years. Norma became a member of the Pocahontas Clun in December of 1958. She worked many years for Pratt Abbott prior to beginning a long career in 1969, with Risbara Construction Company as a bookkeeper, where she retired.  She also enjoyed her part time work at Beech Ridge Speedway in Scarborough , running the 50/50 club. After retiring and moving to Florida in 1988, she continued her love for people as a greeter and admissions teller at Tampa Bay Downs. She rarely missed a Saturday night of dancing with her life long best friends, Barbara and Bibby Willette. After moving back to Maine in 2008,  she devoted many years to Another Chance Animal Rescue as record keeper for the animals. Norma was pre-deceased by her husband, Douglas and her 8 siblings. She is survived by her daughters,  Marilyn Harley of Sanford, Jo-Anne Buffum of Standish, and Karen Buffum of Sanford. She also leaves behind her three granddaughters, Cindi Ingersoll of Scarborough, Shelli Herrick of Gorham,  Michelle Brown of Sanford and 7 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on June 1st at 10:00 at Brooklawn Memorial Cemetery in Portland.
