Nickolas (Nick) David Shaw, 26, husband of Julia H.F. Shaw, of Portland, Maine, died unexpectedly at his home on October 26, 2016.   Nick was born August 3, 1990 in Portland, Maine. He was the son of Jody Vaillancourt and Dave Shaw and the stepson of Becky Shaw. He attended Westbrook schools and was an assistant manager at Noyes Self Storage.   Family and friends were extremely important to Nick. He looked forward to the road trips he and his father and his uncle Andy made to Indianapolis to visit his grandfather Larry Shaw and go to the Indy 500.   Another fond memory was going to the family camp on Aziscohos Lake with his grandmother Cindy Shaw and fishing with his late great grandfather Aime Fournier.    He was a thoughtful son. Conversations with his mother Jody usually ended with them both saying "I love you to the moon and back."   He and his brother Mike Prescott had lots of wonderful adventures together from hunting for frogs when they were little boys to building makeshift bicycle ramps to see who could jump the highest. From the very beginning, they were always there for each other.   On April 10, 2015, he married the love of his life, Julia H.F. Shaw.   Nick was a kind and gentle soul. All of us who loved him are devastated by his death.   In addition to his wife, his parents and stepmother, and his brother Mike, Nick is survived by his grandmother Cindy Shaw; grandfather Larry Shaw and wife Liz; his great grandparents Lawrence and Gloria Shaw; Mike's girlfriend Cari Kilton and his niece Skylar; several aunts and uncles and a multitude of cousins.   Visiting hours will be Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St, Westbrook, from 1 to 3 pm with a time for sharing stories at 2pm.   In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
