Obituary

Nancy Alexander Kenty, 88, of Gorham, passed away from cancer on February 27. She faced this challenge, just like all other challenges in her life with faith, grace and strength. Nancy was born on October 8th, 1935 in St. Albans, Vermont and was raised on a dairy farm in Georgia, Vermont, which she referred to as "just down the road a piece". She was the only child of Albert Dewey and Marion Vincelette Alexander. Nancy attended a one room school up until eighth grade. After high school she went to Boston for Nursing school where she met her husband, Burt. Nancy worked as a nurse until she became a stay at home mom. The family lived in North Reading for 35 years on Chestnut street before Nancy and Burt retired to Gorham, Maine. She was a skilled seamstress and was very active in her church community and her local library and with the General Federation of Women's Club, both local and state level & Samaritans. Nancy had a very positive outlook on life and continuously looked on the bright side. She is predeceased by her daughter, Laura Dawn and her husband of 50 years, Burt. Nancy is survived by her daughter; Rebecca, her son in law, David; son, George, and his wife, Jenny. She is the proud grandmother of Joseph Alexander and leaves behind her silly cat Ethel. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cressey Road Christian Church, 81 Cressey Road, Gorham with a Funeral on Saturday, March 9th at Noon at Cressey Road Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nancy's name to Cressy Road Christian Church or to the Baxter Memorial Library.
