Nancy Claudette Desjardins-Philbin, 80, passed away unexpectedly in her home in Gorham, ME on August 15, 2026, after a period of declining health. Nancy was born on January 2, 1946, in Van Buren, Maine, daughter of the late Claude and Pauline (LeBlanc) Desjardins.
Following Nancy's graduation from Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren, Nancy moved to Boston Massachusetts, to work alongside her two beloved sisters as a hairdresser a career she would enjoy for decades.
Nancy married the love of her life, Stanley Philbin, November 19, 1986. Nancy and Stanley moved to Gorham, Maine to be closer to her family in the early 1990's. Stanley was a devoted husband, never missing an opportunity to dote on his wife, affectionally referring to Nancy as his "bride" to everyone until his dying day. Nancy and Stanley had a warm and bustling home their doors always open to friends and family to reminisce and come together.
Nancy is survived by her eldest sister Geraldine Paradis; John (Gene) Desjardins and his wife Priscilla; Richard Desjardins and his wife Donna; Donald Desjardins and his wife Joanne; David Desjardins and his wife Ressa; and Kenneth Desjardins. Nancy was predeceased by her sister Robertine Michaud (Desjardins) and her husband Clifton and her brother-in-law Kenneth A. Paradis. Nancy has missed her beloved Stanley after his passing in 2018.
Nancy never bore children of her own, yet she regarded her many nieces and nephews, and great/grand nieces and nephews as her own, always welcoming the opportunity to love and spoil them all.
Upon hearing the news of Nancy's passing one of her "granddaughters" said it beautifully
"She was fancy, she was funny; she was nice. She reminded me of red painted nails, purple feather scarfs and pearls.
Like a showgirl and a fluffy white kitty. She would buy us whoopie pies, and I could talk to her about anything."
The loss of Nancy will leave a hole in the hearts and lives of all those who held her dear.
Visitation will be held at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, ME on Friday August 21, 2026, from 11:00 -2:00 PM. Graveside service to follow at St. Hyacinth's Cemetery Stroudwater Street, Westbrook.
