Obituary

Mimi M. Roux, age 92, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2014, at the Barron Center. Mimi was born August 23, 1922 in Uslar Germany to Margarete and Erich Lindner who preceded Mimi in death. Mimi had a younger brother, Heini who was killed serving in the German Army, in 1944, in Moselle France. Mimi was a pediatric nurse the last year of the war and the next years to come. After things settled in Germany, Mimi got married and she and her husband traveled Europe by motorcycle over the years. They did divorce and Mimi's love for children brought her to America. Mimi had a childhood friend, Dr. Annaliese Andrews, living in Prouts Neck who arranged for Mimi to come to America to be the nanny for her children. Mimi met her future husband Ed Roux through a mutual friend and on July 4, 1964 she became Mrs. Adriau Roux. Her next proud moment was when she became an American citizen in September 1967. Mimi was always busy. She worked for Grants and Woolworths over the years and also did a lot of volunteer work like, crocheting baby blankets for Mercy Hospital. Her husband died in 1978. She overcame her loneliness by being active in the German-American Club where a lot of fun-planning was going on. She also did a lot of dog sitting, and not to forget her beautiful flower beds around her house. Mimi would think about it all winter, how to compose her yard in the spring. She will be missed. A special thank you goes to Mary Ann Curry and the staff at the Barron Center, and her friends Joyce and Diane Curry. A memorial service will be announced a later date.  Online condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
