Westbrook- Michael Thomas Maloney, 80, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at his home in Westbrook. The son of Thomas and Margaret (Koch) Maloney he was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on June 3, 1938. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee and earned his bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He taught special education in California and Wisconsin, and then became a Special Agent for The Prudential Insurance Company where he worked for over 20 years. Michael was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1982 which led to an early retirement. He volunteered for the MS Society and was awarded a lifetime service award at a ceremony in Washington D.C. He was predeceased by his grandson Ethan Michael Chitkara, his brother John Cook, and his sister Mary Ellen Smith. Michael is survived by his wife of 56 years Hazel Maloney of Westbrook, his daughters Ann Maloney and her partner Kris Medinger of Shrewsbury MA, and Jane Chitkara and her husband Anil of Wayland MA, his grandchildren Michael and Claire Maloney and Aiden, Isabelle, and Chloe Chitkara, three nephews, Mark (Peggy) Smith of Colorado, Michael (Noel) Smith of California, and Charles Redel, of Wisconsin, and a niece Cathryn (Thomas) Edwards of Wisconsin Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 1-2 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 613 Main St. Westbrook. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care of the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee.
