Portland, Mary E. Vaughan, passed away Friday, Feb. 17th at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Freedom, the daughter of Priscilla (Spencer) and Ernest Thompson and grew up in Westbrook and Portland, Maine. She worked many years at the Jason Company, Emery Waterhouse, Preti Flaherty Law Firm. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church on Canco Rd. in Portland. She enjoyed helping people and was active in the Food Pantry and ladies groups. Mary was a loving person, loved her family and family barbecues. She will be sadly missed by anyone that she touched in her life. She was predeceased by her husband William C. Vaughan Jr., her mother Priscilla Thompson, her father Ernest Thompson Sr; her sisters Barbara Doucette and Sadie Lebelle. She is survived by her daughter Lisa McCrillis of Westbrook; son Stephen Vaughan of Saco; grandchildren Derek McCrillis, Rebecca Vaughan Beloin and her husband Robert of East Philadelphia, Heidi Hendrickson of So. Portland, and Lurlene Dame of Texas; many great grandchildren; her brother Joseph Thompson and sister Janice Downs, both of Portland; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 9:30 to 11 AM Wednesday at the First Baptist Church on Canco Road in Portland followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will be private following the service.
