Westbrook – Mary K. Libby, 76, died October 11, 2024, at Springbrook Nursing Home in Westbrook. She was born April 8, 1948, in Westbrook, the daughter of Stanley and Esther (Gilpatric) Kowalczyk. Mary attended schools in Westbrook before going on to University of Maine Gorham to get her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She later received her Master's degree from Gorham and also studied at Boston University. Mary worked in the South Portland and Gorham school districts, as well as the Maine Correctional Center's education department. On December 21,1968 she married Bruce Libby and together they raised 3 daughters. Mary was a member of the General Federation Women's Club of Westbrook; she served on various local committees and became the President of the Westbrook chapter and then became the first Westbrook member to serve as State President from 2016 to 2018, representing the State of Maine in the National Federation. Mary loved her time with family whether it was time spent at the beach or camping. Mary is survived by her husband Bruce Libby; her 3 daughters, Gabrielle A. Libby, Megan K. Libby, and Carrie J. Sawyer and her husband Steve; and her 2 grandchildren Seth J. Sawyer, and Cordelia J. Sawyer. Services will be announced at a later time.
