Gorham, Mary Jane Hamblen, 101, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 at her residence at the Inn at Village Square in Gorham. Mary was born in Portland, ME the daughter of Leigh and Mauna (Chadbourn) Motherwell. She was raised in Westbrook, where she lived most of her life, and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1939. She later attended Northeastern Business College before starting her working career. Mary worked for Morse, Payson and Noyes, and New England Telephone Company, and her last employment was with Pratt Abbott Dry Cleaners in Westbrook, where she worked for 25 years before retiring. She was married to Robert C. Hamblen who passed away in 1970. She enjoyed, sewing, knitting, and cooking. Besides her husband Robert she was predeceased by a sister Constance Morton. She is survived by three sons, James A. Hamblen of Limington, Terry L. and his wife Marcia Hamblen of Lyman, and Steven R. and his wife Kate Hamblen of Sanford, she leaves 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 15, at Eastern Cemetery in Gorham. In lieu of flowers donations in her name can be made to the Cancer Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation.
