WINDHAM - Mary A. Bishop 76, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2016 at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Eastport, on February 8, 1940, the eldest daughter of George and Hazel Townsend. Mary graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1958. Mary met her husband, Shirl Bishop, in Eastport where they were married on October 7, 1961, sharing 54 years of marriage. Leaving Eastport they moved to Portland where Mary attended Beauty School, graduating in 1960. She opened up her first salon in South Portland where she built a thriving business. She and Shirl sold the shop and moved to Windham where they started their family. Mary continued on with her career building another beauty shop in their home. She was a vivacious sociable person that we will miss dearly. She is survived by her husband Shirl Bishop of Windham, son Jeff Bishop and wife Christine of Gorham, Daughter Debra Reed of Windham, son Brian Bishop and wife Lisa of Gorham, Grandchildren Britney Short and husband Adam, Brylee Bishop, Cole Bishop, Kelsey Bishop and great grandchild MaKenzie Short, sister Helen Galipeau and husband Pete of Ocala, FL and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mary was predeceased by her sister Jean Cushing and her husband Michael. Most of all we will miss her smile, love and the twinkle in her eyes. Rest in peace. A graveside service will be held in the Spring at Mayberry Cemetery, Windham.
