Obituary

Marsha Grondin Spearin, 66 Gorham – Marsha G. Spearin, 66, died on February 20, 2016 at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Portland on October 1, 1949, the daughter of Ludger and Marie (O'Clair) Grondin. Marsha grew up in Scarborough and graduated from Scarborough High School in 1968, where she was a majorette in the marching band. She married Donald C. Spearin on November 23, 1968 at St. John's Evangelist in South Portland, and together they raised their two children. After a few years of employment, she found her true calling and became employed by the USPS as a rural letter carrier in the Gorham office, delivering to her beloved customers in Gorham and Buxton. Due to her COPD, she was forced to retire one year early from the USPS. In addition to her parents, Marsha was predeceased by her two sisters, Trena Grondin and Rita Smith, her niece Wanda Jean Mitchell and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. She is survived by her husband Donald, Sr.; sisters, Shiela Simoneau and husband Ray of Buxton, and Nora Welton of Bloomfield, NJ, and an estranged brother; daughter, Renee Robertson and husband Richard of Felton, DE; son Donald C. Spearin, Jr. of Gorham; her beloved grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob, and Matthew and Kevin; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, all of whom she loved dearly. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Gibson Pavilion and SCU at Maine Medical Center for going above and beyond in their care of Marsha. Per her request, there will be no services. Arrangements by the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham. In lieu of flowers, it was her wish for donations to be made in her memory to the Catherine McAuley High School Scholarship Fund, 631 Stevens Ave., Portland, ME 04103. Marsha was a giving person, and as a way to honor and celebrate her life, please pay it forward to help others who are in need.
