GORHAM – Marsha Caufield, 70, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 8, 2020. Marsha was born in Portland, on January 8, 1950, a daughter to Arnold and Marie Higgins. They resided in Westbrook where Arnold worked for S.D. Warren his whole life. She often spoke of her "hood" on Brackett Street with her Dad's garden and childhood friends. She was a proud 1968 graduate of Westbrook High School with Honors. Marsha married Thomas Caufield in 1978 and they were blessed with three children. Marsha was a housewife and a legal secretary for local law firms. She also had a second career for the Gorham School Department. She took particular interest in Sean's abilities to live on his own because of his special needs. Her attention and volunteering at Sean's home gardens all showed her efforts. Gardening was large in her life and she was always starting a new one someplace. She loved her home in Gorham and her weekly Zumba classes helped her through some tough times. During her sickness she was particularly helped by The Dempsey Center and their many wonderful services. She even met Patrick Dempsey, twice, to her delight! In addition to her parents, Marsha was predeceased by her brother, Buddy Higgins of Westbrook. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Sean Caufield of Portland; her daughters, Kelly Caufield of Monmouth, and Lyndsey Himelick and her husband, Les who currently reside in Florida; her only grandson, Colton Himelick will also miss his "Mamie" and Marsha doted on him every chance she could. She also leaves behind sisters, Karen Morton and husband, Phillip of Naples, and Beth Webster and husband, Bob of Westbrook; nieces, a nephew; and many loved family members. A public visitation will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A memorial service will be private for family.
