LIMERICK—Mark Jeffrey Nichols, 81, passed away at Ledgewood Manor in Windham on March 24, 2018. He was born in Marblehead, MA on March 20, 1937, a son of George and Hazel (Thurber) Nichols. Mark grew up in Swampscott, MA and moved to Maine on November 1, 1952 where he worked on the family farm. He was a graduate of Limerick High School in the class of 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from the University of Maine at Orono. After his schooling, Mark took over the family farm where he worked hard throughout his life. He was a well-known man of the community, for several years he was a Selectman for the town of Limerick and he was also an active member of the volunteer fire department. In his later years, Mark enjoyed gardening and operated a farm stand and sold firewood. He truly loved the land. He is survived by a daughter, Leslie Burgess; a son, Justin Nichols; a brother, Craig Nichols; a grandson Travis Burgess, and great grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Sawyer, and Mackenzie. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Sabra Farnham; a son, Jeffrey Nichols, and a grandson, Raymond Burgess. There will be no services for Mark.
