Obituary

Marion Phyllis (McPherson) McCrillis passed away peacefully on Tuesday after a lengthy illness. She was born in Waterville, and grew up in Fairfield. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1943. While there, she played basketball and the clarinet in the school band. She married Carl McCrillis in 1944, and when he left the Navy, they moved to Palmyra to start their family and run a dairy farm. Marion could be counted on to bake, crochet, knit and sew for area hospitals, churches, the Boy Scouts and the Shriners. When Carl retired from farming, the family moved to Pittsfiled, and eventually settled in Westbrook. She worked at Brighton Osteopathic Hospital (now NE Rehab), and also drove rental cars for Avis, National and Dollar. She and Carl enjoyed dancing, playing the organ and being with family and friends. Marion belonged to Westbrook Warren Congregational Church and was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Marion was predeceased by Carl, her son James, grandson Jeremy, and great-grandson Michael. Marion is survived by daughter Audrey, and sons Carl Jr, Donald, David, Jon, Bruce, Paul, Dwayne and Kevin, their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St. Westbrook. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
