Obituary

WINDHAM - Marguerite June Rogers (Maggie) passed December 4th, 2016, surrounded by family. Maggie was born June 25th, 1938, in Livermore Falls, Maine. Daughter of the late Eleanor Cressey and Stanley Hardy. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Angela Wilson and brother Brian Hardy. Surviving, in addition to her loving husband, Raymond Rogers, is her sister Jean Johnson, Portland, and her brothers Carl Cressey, NH, and Craig Cressey, MA, and her children Pamela Russo (George) AZ, Karen Dishno (Aaron) CA, Sue Keef , Ocean Park, and Dana Hayden (Mirdza) CA. Her stepchildren, Kim LaPointe (Dennis), Kennebunk, Karen Fuchs, CA, David Rogers (Mary) NH, Lyndon Rogers, Denmark, 21 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grand Children and 1 Great-Great Grandchild along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Maggie graduated from Westbrook High School, class of 1956. Maggie had a love of learning; earning her degree at U of M Gorham. Women's rights were a priority to her and she never gave up the fight. She was an exemplary social worker for the state of Maine; advocating for and making a difference in the lives of women-teaching assertiveness and confidence. Many women returned to her to share their accomplishments due to what they learned from her. Maggie loved her family dearly. She loved building a warm home and fun life with her husband Raymond. They combined families in 1981 and celebrated 35 adventurous years-full of love, laughter and fun stories about their children and grandchildren-even those miles away. Maggie faced and questioned medical challenges head on. She not only used the knowledge she found on her computer to learn more about her health, she unselfishly helped others. All who met her remembered her for her caring nature. Doing for others came easy to her. After triumphantly battling breast cancer, Maggie had a wonderful retirement. She was known for her baking, quilting and crafting skills and liked the social independence it gave her with friends and relatives while Ray was as she would say "out playing with his horses." Ray always said he would rather eat at home then go out because he had the "best cook in his kitchen." Ray and Maggie loved traveling together across the U.S. -camping, exploring historical sites, visiting relatives and taking flight to FLA in the winter to meet with good friends. Maggie was known to speak her mind and had a great sense of hum or. These traits and much more left an imprint on all who were fortunate to experience them. She loved to laugh and often found opportunities to share quotes such as one of her favorites, "Not my circus, not my monkeys." As Maggie would often say "Thank you" my loved ones and friends. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on. A 'Celebration' of Maggie's incredible life will be held in the spring of 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
