WESTBROOK - Margaret "Peggy" Ann Belisle, 82, died peacefully in her sleep, while surrounded by family, on November 5, 2022. She was born on April 22, 1940, in Old Town, ME, the daughter of James and Lorraine (Trembley) Julian. Peggy graduated from Old Town High School in 1958 and began working as the secretary to the head of the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Maine at Orono. It was in this job that she met her future husband, Alfred Belisle, a graduate student in the Chemical Engineering program. Peggy and Alfred were married on September 5, 1959. They lived in Portland briefly before settling and raising their children in Westbrook, ME. After her children got a little older, Peggy returned to college and earned a BS in History from the University of Southern Maine in 1977. In later years, Peggy and Al spent their winters in Naples, FL. Peggy was an avid runner and tennis player and enjoyed watching her Patriots and Yankees. She could often be heard singing Neil Diamond songs. In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, who passed away in 2016 after 57 years of marriage. Peggy is survived by her son, Scott and his wife, Nikki of Williamsburg, VA; son, Kevin and his fiancée, Dawn McCandless of Newbury, MA; and her daughter, Susan Niles and her husband, Frank of Waterville; 6 grandchildren, David and Krista Belisle, Allison, Eric, and Adam Belisle, and Lauren Crane. She is also survived by her sister, Janice (Julian) Hall of Windham. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street. A mass of Christian burial will be held11 AM, Friday, November 18, 2022 at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church, 295 Brown Street, Westbrook.
