Marcus Van Barlow, 86, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 at Maine Medical Center surrounded by his family. Marcus worked at Oakhurst Dairy for 42 years until his retirement. Not wanting to sit still, he worked another 15 years for Kris-Way Trucking, delivering mail. Finally, retiring again at age 83. He enjoyed many activities throughout the years; playing, coaching and umpiring softball, bowling, motorcycling, hunting and shooting darts at Forest Gardens. He was also a member of both Falmouth and Cumberland Rod & Gun Clubs. He was a champion marksman, traveling throughout the region for tournaments. The purchase of a camp in Jackman years ago made it easier for him to enjoy snowmobiling well into his late 70's until his health started to decline. He was stubborn, opinionated and frugal, but also very social, funny and more than willing to help anyone in anyway he could. Because of his early work as "The milk man" and his social activities, it was rumored that he knew just about everyone in Portland. Marcus is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia; son, Brian, and his wife, Sandy; daughter, Cheryl, and her husband Fred; two grandchildren and his brother Wayne. He is predeceased by his parents Jesse and Audrey Edgerton; brothers, Larry and Frank Barlow. Visitation will be held 11am to 12:30pm on Wednesday, January 24 with a funeral to start at 12:30 at Dolby, Blais, Segee Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, concluding with a burial at Brooklawn Cemetery, Portland.
