M. Irene Laverriere, 81, of West Haven, CT, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at her home. She was born in Westbrook, the daughter of Albert and Delia (Pitre) Sirois. Irene was raised and educated in Westbrook, moving to CT 54 years ago. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne at St. Louis Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Irene was an avid quilter and photographer. Her passion for quilting led her to teach it to others, as a volunteer at the library for 25 years. She also found great joy in traveling to Canada with her sister. She especially loved to travel with her daughters and granddaughters to quilt shows and around the country. She was predeceased by a son Richard A. in 1980, two sisters, Rita Sirois and Theresa A. Wildes. She is survived by her husband Joseph A. Laverriere of West Haven, CT; her children Michael D. Laverriere of West Haven, CT, Denise I Laverriere of Limington, ME, Diane M. Crowe of Prospect, CT, and Vicki J. Laverriere of New Haven, CT; nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; three brothers Raymond Sirois of FL, A. Robert Sirois of So. Portland, ME, and Charles A. Sirois of SC. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM Sunday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hyacinth Church (St. Anthony's Parish) at 10 AM Monday. Interment will be at a later date.
