Gorham Lucille Annette Tsakis, 83, died Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Maine Medical Center. She was born September 29, 1934 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Emil and Henrietta (Gagino) Tsakis. Lucille grew up in New York and was a 1952 graduate of Valley Stream Central High School, located in Valley Stream, NY. She would eventually settle in the Seacoast area and was a longtime broker at Gold Key Real Estate, Heritage Pointe Associates and the Exeter Mill. She also owned and operated the New Leaf bookstore in downtown Portsmouth, and the September Song Bed and Breakfast in York. Lucille will be remembered as a beloved sister, mother, friend, and lifelong feminist and humanist. She inspired and empowered others with her love and friendship and with her fiercely strong and independent nature. In addition to her parents , Lucille was predeceased by her daughter Donna Marie Kemp. She is survived by her children, Suzane McLafferty of Hawaii, Chip Kemp of Gorham, and John Kemp of Arizona; sister, Marie Louise Bowman; grandchildren, Katie Rose and Andrew K. Smith; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on December 17, 2017 at the South Church, 292 State Street, Portsmouth, NH.
